Interview tips on the day

On the day:

Make sure you give yourself time to allow for any delays in travel, although if too early don’t present yourself at the destination of the interview more than ten minutes before the commencement time. In the event that you are late ensure you have a contact number on you to inform the person who organised the interview that you are running late.

Presentation:

Do

  • Dress to Impress, smart professional, and look immaculate.
  • Make sure your shoes are clean and polished.
  • Be clean shaven.
  • Keep hair neat and tidy.
  • Switch off your mobile for the whole duration of the interview.

 Don’t

  • Smoke before the interview (as it will be smelt on your breath).
  • Chew gum during interview.
  • Wear facial piercings or make sure any earrings you wear do not standout (Keep them conservative).
  • Wear skirts above the knee.

 First impressions

  • Be confident as opposed to being overconfident (They have seen your CV and have an interest in you).
  • Smile.
  • Look the interviewers in the eye.
  • Firm hand shake. During the interview
  • Be brief, concise and positive with your answers.
  • Listen and think before you speak.
  • Be assertive without being aggressive.
  • Appear calm.
  • Match their needs with the benefits you offer.
  • Don’t mention money or benefits unless asked.
